Nter Asset Management, through its "Alternative Lenders and Fintech Fund," has invested in the fintech company "Orion Leasing" by acquiring 80% of its shares for €2.5 million. This investment aligns with the fund's strategy to enhance the value of financial technology and alternative financing companies.
Since the initiation of this deal over a year ago, "Orion Leasing's" portfolio has grown more than twofold and now stands at nearly €20 million. With this investment, the company has reached a breakeven point and has become profitable, with plans to change its name in the near future.
"In the private debt sector in Lithuania, Nter Asset Management is a leader, managing a portfolio valued at approximately €50 million in this asset class. Although this acquisition marks an investment in the private equity sector, following the investment in 'Orion Leasing,' our directly and indirectly managed debt portfolio will reach €70 million. If we evaluate it on a consolidated basis, €100 million is not so far off. We believe that both 'Orion Leasing' and the private debt funds can reach the €100 million mark individually," states Benas Poderis, partner and head of the investment management department at Nter Asset Management.
"Collaboration with well-known technology brands such as "Apple, " "Liebherr" and others provides us with uniqueness, allowing our company's growth to gain momentum—we already operate in three Baltic countries, and this investment shows that we can earn investors' trust. I believe this news is not the last piece of good news," says Laimonas Belickas, CEO and one of the founders and shareholders of "Orion Leasing."
Established last year, the "Nter Alternative Lenders and Fintech Fund" is a specialized private equity fund that invests in various alternative financing businesses. The fund aims to consolidate and grow alternative financing companies operating in different segments within five years of its establishment. The total value of the fund's portfolios is expected to reach €300-500 million.
"Orion Leasing" is a fintech company providing quick access to capital for business modernization and technological advancement. The company places significant emphasis on green transition and circular economy solutions, including flexible financing for vehicles, heavy machinery, IT, industrial, and construction equipment. The "Orion Leasing" group operates in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. The company also collaborates with the European Investment Fund and has a €50 million portfolio guarantee agreement.
"Orion Leasing" was founded in 2021 by Laimonas Belickas, a former founder and long-term head of "UniCredit Leasing" in Lithuania, together with the investment banking firm "Orion Securities," which exited "Orion Leasing" in 2023.
